Role Context

School-based NPs through Maxim operate on the academic calendar with summers off or reduced schedule. You will manage a student population across one or more school buildings, handle acute health room visits, conduct mandated health screenings (vision, hearing, BMI), and oversee healthcare plans for students with chronic conditions like asthma, diabetes, and seizure disorders.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate and treat acute illness and injury in the school health room
• Manage individualized healthcare plans (IHCPs) for students with chronic health conditions
• Conduct state-mandated health screenings for vision, hearing, and scoliosis
• Administer medications per physician orders and school protocol
• Train and supervise school nurses and health aides on delegation and emergency protocols
• Collaborate with parents, teachers, and school counselors on student health and wellness

Requirements & Skills

• FNP-BC or PNP-BC certification preferred
• Active state NP license
• Pediatric or community health experience preferred
• School nursing background or experience with individualized education plans (IEPs) a plus
• Patience and skill with children across developmental stages
• Ability to communicate clearly with parents, educators, and district administration
