About This Role

Hospitality Care is hiring OPD Attendants for a busy outpatient department at a private hospital in Chennai. Unlike ward-based roles, OPD attendants work in the hospital's outpatient area — managing patient flow, guiding visitors, assisting with registration, and coordinating between the consultation rooms and diagnostic departments. The role suits candidates who are organized, communicative, and comfortable in a high-footfall environment.

Role Context

The OPD section of this hospital handles 200 to 400 patients daily across specialties including general medicine, orthopaedics, gynaecology, and dermatology. You will work in a team of 4 to 6 OPD attendants managed by the OPD supervisor. Work is day-shift only — typically 8 AM to 4 PM or 9 AM to 5 PM — with Saturday mornings included. The role requires standing and moving for most of the shift.

Key Responsibilities

• Guide patients and visitors to the correct consultation room, lab, or counter
• Manage the queue outside consultation rooms and communicate wait times clearly
• Assist elderly or mobility-challenged patients with wheelchair movement in OPD
• Coordinate prescription and report handover between doctor cabins and pharmacy
• Keep the OPD waiting area clean and inform housekeeping of any spills or issues
• Direct emergency walk-in patients to the casualty department promptly
• Maintain a logbook of daily patient flow and flag unusual situations to the supervisor

Requirements & Skills

• Minimum 10th pass; 12th pass or any diploma preferred
• Good spoken Tamil; basic Hindi or English useful for non-Tamil-speaking patients
• Calm and organized in high-footfall environments
• Physically active and comfortable standing and walking throughout the shift
• Polite and patient when dealing with anxious patients and family members
• Prior hospital or reception experience is an advantage

Benefits & Work Conditions

• ₹11,000 – ₹16,000 per month
• Day shift only — no night shift rotation for OPD attendants
• Uniform and identity card provided
• ESI and PF from the date of joining
