Role Context

Neurology NPs at UCSF function as subspecialty extenders within disease-specific clinics — MS, movement disorders, epilepsy, or neurovascular — depending on team placement. You will conduct new patient consultations, manage ongoing medication regimens, monitor disease activity, and serve as the primary contact for patients between neurologist appointments. Some positions involve inpatient neurology rounding on admitted patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate new and established patients in outpatient neurology clinic settings
• Manage neurological medications including DMTs, anticonvulsants, and dopaminergic agents
• Perform neurological assessments and document EDSS, UPDRS, or seizure frequency scales
• Coordinate infusion scheduling for MS and neuromuscular disease treatments
• Interpret MRI, EEG, and EMG reports in collaboration with attending neurologists
• Triage neurological urgent calls and determine disposition or urgent clinic access

Requirements & Skills

• FNP-BC or ACNP-BC certification; neurology NP certification a plus
• Active California NP license with furnishing number and DEA registration
• Neurology RN or NP experience strongly preferred
• Familiarity with MS disease-modifying therapies, epilepsy drug interactions, or Parkinson's management
• Strong neurological physical exam skills
• Bilingual (Spanish) a plus at several UCSF clinic locations
