  • Salary Range: $58–$76/hr
  • Posted Date: 2026-06-04

Role Context

HSS NPs are integral to orthopedic surgeon practices, managing pre-operative workups, post-operative follow-up visits, joint injection clinics, and orthopedic urgent care. You will typically work within a specific subspecialty — spine, sports medicine, arthroplasty, or rheumatology — with a consistent attending team and defined patient population.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-operative medical evaluations and surgical clearance documentation
  • Manage post-operative follow-up including wound care, suture removal, and physical therapy coordination
  • Perform and assist with joint aspirations and corticosteroid injections under physician guidance
  • Triage and evaluate acute orthopedic injuries in ambulatory urgent care settings
  • Interpret musculoskeletal imaging including X-rays and MRIs for follow-up planning
  • Educate patients on surgical recovery expectations, activity restrictions, and rehabilitation protocols

  • Active New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or Florida NP license
  • DEA registration required
  • Orthopedic NP or RN experience preferred; sports medicine background welcomed
  • Ability to read plain film radiographs and communicate findings accurately
  • Patient-centered communication for athletic, working-age, and elderly populations

Benefits & Work Conditions

  • $58–$76/hr with annual merit increases
  • Standard business hours — no nights, no on-call at most ambulatory positions
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Tuition assistance and robust CME support
  • Malpractice coverage fully provided
  • 403(b) retirement plan with match

Who Should Apply

This role is ideal for NPs with a musculoskeletal clinical interest and a preference for subspecialty practice. The structured outpatient environment, predictable hours, and opportunity to develop procedural skills in injections and wound care make it a highly desirable orthopedic NP position.
