Role Context

Planned Parenthood NPs see approximately 20–28 patients per shift in a structured clinic setting. Services are tiered by state scope of practice, and NPs are a core component of the clinical team. Health center teams include medical assistants, patient educators, and a clinical supervisor or medical director.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide contraception counseling and insert/remove IUDs and implants
• Conduct annual gynecological exams, Pap smears, and breast exams
• Test and treat STIs including chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, and HIV
• Prescribe and manage hormonal contraception including pills, patches, and injections
• Offer pregnancy options counseling and refer for prenatal or abortion care as requested
• Provide gender-affirming hormone therapy at locations with GAHT services

Requirements & Skills

• FNP-BC or WHNP-BC certification
• Active NP license in the state of practice
• IUD and implant insertion training or willingness to train on the job
• Non-judgmental, trauma-informed approach to all patients
• Commitment to reproductive rights and health equity
• Spanish fluency highly valued at multiple health center locations
