About This Role
HealthFirst India is offering Pharmacy Apprentice positions at our hospital and retail pharmacy locations in Chennai. This apprenticeship provides hands-on training in dispensing, inventory management, patient counselling, and billing under the supervision of registered pharmacists. It is the ideal foundation for D.Pharm and B.Pharm freshers who want practical pharmacy experience before advancing to a full pharmacist role.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist registered pharmacists in dispensing prescribed medications accurately and according to dispensing protocols
- Verify prescription details including drug name, dose, quantity, and prescribing doctor before dispensing
- Manage over-the-counter (OTC) product sales and answer basic patient queries on commonly used medications
- Receive and check stock deliveries against purchase orders; update inventory records in the pharmacy management system
- Monitor expiry dates on all pharmacy stock and flag near-expiry or expired items for removal and return
- Maintain a clean, organised, and compliant pharmacy counter at all times as per CDSCO and hospital regulations
- Assist in preparing and maintaining daily prescription logs, drug registers, and narcotics records under pharmacist supervision
Required Skills and Qualifications
- D.Pharm or B.Pharm from a PCI-recognised pharmacy institution
- Basic knowledge of pharmacology, drug classifications, and prescription verification procedures
- Familiarity with pharmacy software for billing and inventory management
- Attention to detail and zero-tolerance attitude toward dispensing errors
- Good Tamil and English communication for assisting patients with medication counselling
- State pharmacy council registration (or in process) is required

- Apprenticeship stipend of ₹10,000–₹16,000 per month
