About This Role
HealthAxis India is offering Medical Coding Trainee positions in Delhi for freshers with a life sciences, pharmacy, or nursing background. If you have recently completed your degree and want to build a career in the growing healthcare informatics sector, this trainee programme provides structured ICD-10, CPT, and CPC coding training combined with real client work experience that prepares you for a full-time medical coding role.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete the HealthAxis India medical coding training programme covering ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
- Assign accurate diagnostic and procedure codes to patient medical records under supervision of a senior coder
- Review physician notes, lab reports, operative reports, and discharge summaries to extract codeable diagnoses and procedures
- Query physicians and clinical staff when documentation is insufficient or unclear for accurate code assignment
- Maintain daily coding productivity and accuracy targets as set by the training manager
- Follow HIPAA-equivalent data privacy standards for all patient medical record handling
- Work toward earning the CPC (Certified Professional Coder) credential with guidance and support from the HealthAxis training team
Required Skills and Qualifications
- B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Nursing, or a related healthcare field
- Basic knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
- Good English reading comprehension for interpreting complex clinical documentation
- Detail-oriented with analytical skills and willingness to learn a rule-based coding system
- No prior coding experience required — full training is provided
- AAPC or AHIMA certification background is a strong plus
