About This Role
MediCare India is hiring Evening Medical Transcriptionists to join our healthcare documentation team in Chennai. If you have a medical background, strong English listening skills, and an eye for clinical terminology, this role lets you contribute meaningfully to healthcare workflows during the evening shift — ideal for those who prefer afternoon-to-night work schedules or are pursuing further studies during the day.
Key Responsibilities
- Transcribe physician-dictated medical reports including history and physical examinations, discharge summaries, operative notes, and consultation reports
- Maintain strict accuracy standards for medical terminology, drug names, procedures, and diagnostic codes
- Review and edit transcriptions generated by speech recognition software for quality and completeness
- Flag inconsistencies, unclear dictations, or suspected errors for physician review and clarification
- Meet daily productivity targets (line counts) as specified by the department supervisor
- Follow all HIPAA-equivalent patient data confidentiality protocols and data security standards
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of medical vocabulary through reference books and online resources
- Coordinate with the day shift team for smooth handover and seamless report turnaround
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Medical Transcription, or equivalent training from a recognised MT institute
- Minimum typing speed of 50 WPM with high accuracy in English medical content
- Strong grasp of medical terminology, anatomy, and clinical documentation formats
- Good listening comprehension of various English accents (US, UK, Australian)
- Proficiency in MS Word, transcription software, and foot pedal usage
- Prior MT experience in a hospital, clinic, or BPO setting is preferred
