About This Role

CloudNest India is hiring a Software Tester for its Chennai QA team. The company builds cloud-based e-commerce and retail management platforms, and this role is part of a five-person QA team responsible for testing new features, regression coverage, and release readiness across the product suite. Both manual and automated testing are part of the role. Freshers with strong testing fundamentals and candidates with up to three years of QA experience are both invited to apply for this full-time onsite position.

Role Context

You will report to the QA Lead and work embedded within a product squad alongside developers and a product manager. You will receive feature specifications and test cases to review before development completes, participate in sprint demos, and own release sign-off for your assigned squad. The team uses a mix of manual exploratory testing and Selenium-based automation for regression suites. Test coverage metrics are tracked and the QA team is treated as a quality partner, not a downstream filter.

Key Responsibilities

Review feature requirements and write detailed test cases covering positive, negative, and edge case scenarios
Execute manual functional tests for new features and report defects with clear reproduction steps
Develop and maintain automated regression test scripts using Selenium WebDriver and Java or Python
Perform API testing using Postman to validate backend endpoint behavior and error responses
Conduct regression testing before each sprint release and document test execution results
Participate in sprint ceremonies and raise QA concerns early during planning and design reviews
Track defect lifecycle from discovery through resolution and validate fixes before release closure
Contribute to improving test processes, coverage standards, and QA documentation practices

Requirements & Skills

0–3 years of software testing experience in manual or automation QA roles
Solid understanding of software testing concepts including test case design, defect lifecycle, and regression testing
Working knowledge of Selenium WebDriver for web application test automation is preferred
Familiarity with Postman or similar tools for REST API testing and validation
Basic programming knowledge in Java or Python sufficient to write and maintain test scripts
Experience with JIRA or similar defect tracking tools for test management and bug reporting
Analytical thinking and attention to detail — the ability to break features down into testable units
