About This Role

TechAxis India is hiring an Android Developer for its Mumbai mobile engineering team. The company is expanding its logistics and warehouse management platform to mobile, and this role is focused on building the Android application that field teams and delivery drivers will use daily. The app handles task assignments, location tracking, inventory scanning, and real-time status updates. You will be working in Kotlin on a greenfield app with full ownership from architecture through Play Store release.

Role Context

You will report to the Mobile Engineering Lead and collaborate with two iOS developers, a backend engineer providing API support, and a UX designer. Sprints run fortnightly. The role requires working closely with the logistics operations team to understand field workflows before implementing them in the app. You will own the Android codebase entirely and are expected to make architecture decisions with input from the lead rather than waiting for prescriptive specifications at every step.

Key Responsibilities

Build and maintain the Android logistics app in Kotlin using MVVM architecture
Implement real-time location tracking and background task handling using Android WorkManager
Integrate with REST APIs using Retrofit and manage offline-first data sync with Room database
Implement barcode and QR code scanning for warehouse inventory operations within the app
Write unit tests using JUnit 5 and UI tests using Espresso for critical user flows
Optimize app performance including battery usage, startup time, and memory management
Manage the Play Store release pipeline including build signing, versioning, and release notes
Collect and analyze crash reports from Firebase Crashlytics and resolve critical issues promptly

Requirements & Skills

1–3 years of Android development experience with Kotlin as the primary language
Strong understanding of MVVM architecture with ViewModel and LiveData or StateFlow
Practical experience with Retrofit for REST API integration and Room for local data persistence
Familiarity with Android background processing using WorkManager or Foreground Services
Understanding of the Android Activity and Fragment lifecycle and configuration change handling
Experience managing Play Store releases including keystore signing and version management
Knowledge of Firebase services including Crashlytics and FCM push notifications

Monthly salary of ₹25,000–₹50,000 based on Kotlin and Android development experience
