About This Role

DevWave India is looking for a Software Engineer to join its platform infrastructure team in Bangalore. Unlike typical product feature roles, this position focuses on building the shared services, libraries, and internal tooling that other engineering teams at DevWave rely on. The team of six maintains authentication services, notification pipelines, data access layers, and deployment utilities that support four separate product lines across the company.

Role Context

You will report to the Principal Engineer and work on components that sit below the product layer — the systems other developers build on. This requires clear API design, thorough documentation, and a thoughtful approach to backward compatibility. The role involves regular cross-team collaboration with product engineers who raise requests or issues with shared services. Expect roughly half your time on proactive improvements and the other half responding to requests from internal teams who depend on infrastructure you maintain.

Key Responsibilities

Design and build internal shared services covering authentication, session management, and notifications
Maintain and improve existing data access libraries used across multiple product teams
Define API contracts and versioning strategies for shared services consumed internally
Write comprehensive documentation that product engineers can follow without direct assistance
Monitor system performance dashboards and proactively resolve emerging bottlenecks
Conduct design reviews for platform-layer changes before implementation begins
Collaborate with security teams to ensure shared services meet internal access control standards
Lead technical discussions on backward compatibility when breaking changes are proposed

Requirements & Skills

2–4 years of software engineering experience with a focus on backend or platform systems
Strong proficiency in Java or Python with demonstrated experience building scalable services
Experience with message queues, caching systems, or event-driven architecture is valuable
Understanding of API versioning strategies and backward-compatible design principles
Practical knowledge of monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana or Prometheus
Ability to write clear technical documentation independently without prompting
Comfortable holding firm on architectural decisions in cross-team technical discussions
