About This Role

In this full-time remote role, you will be responsible for reviewing clinical documentation and assigning accurate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes for a diverse portfolio of healthcare clients spanning multi-specialty physician practices, outpatient clinics, and ambulatory surgery centers. Role Context

Medical coding accuracy directly impacts healthcare revenue cycle performance. At MedCode Remote USA, our certified coders work within a structured quality assurance framework, handling a variety of medical specialties. You will use leading encoder software and work closely with billing analysts and audit teams. This remote position allows you to work from any location in the United States while contributing to a team that serves over 200 healthcare facilities nationwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and interpret clinical documentation including physician notes, operative reports, and discharge summaries
• Assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, and HCPCS Level II codes to inpatient and outpatient encounters
• Query physicians for documentation clarification using established query protocols
• Maintain a personal coding accuracy rate of 95% or higher as measured by internal audits
• Meet daily productivity benchmarks while ensuring code-level compliance
• Stay current with annual coding updates, payer-specific guidelines, and CMS directives
• Collaborate with the revenue cycle team to resolve claim denials related to coding errors
• Participate in regular team coding calibration sessions and internal education programs
• Document coding decisions clearly for audit trail and compliance purposes

Requirements & Skills

• Active CPC, CCS, COC, or equivalent AHIMA or AAPC certification required
• Minimum 2 years of coding experience in a physician practice or outpatient facility setting
• Strong working knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding guidelines and medical terminology
• Experience with encoder tools such as 3M, Optum360, or TruCode
• Familiarity with multiple specialties including internal medicine, orthopedics, or cardiology preferred
• Ability to work independently with strong time management and self-discipline
• Reliable high-speed internet and a compliant home office setup per HIPAA requirements
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to ongoing professional development
