Responsibilities
- Partner with the unit Nurse Manager to oversee daily operations on a designated inpatient unit
- Assist in coordinating patient care assignments and managing staffing coverage across all shifts
- Participate in UPMC's Nurse Manager Internship curriculum including finance, HR, and quality modules
- Conduct purposeful leader rounding on patients and staff every shift
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to resolve care coordination challenges
- Assist in accreditation readiness activities and policy review processes
- Attend UPMC Nursing Institute leadership seminars and simulation training
Requirements
- BSN required; enrollment in MSN program preferred
- Pennsylvania RN license or eligibility to obtain
- New nursing graduate with demonstrated academic excellence
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Strong analytical and interpersonal communication skills
- Interest in academic medical center nursing operations and research
