Data Analyst – Health Economics – UnitedHealth Group

We are hiring a Data Analyst on our Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR) team in Minnetonka, MN — analyzing medical claims, pharmacy data, and clinical data to understand how healthcare interventions impact cost, quality, and patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Analyze medical and pharmacy claims data to measure healthcare utilization patterns and cost trends
- Build analytical models measuring clinical program effectiveness, care gap closure, and member health outcomes
- Support population health management analytics to identify high-risk members for care management outreach
- Develop SAS and SQL programs to extract and transform data from UHG's enterprise claims warehouse
- Create Tableau dashboards for health plan clients reporting quality measures (HEDIS, STAR ratings)
- Collaborate with actuaries, clinical program teams, and health plan account managers on data requests
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Biostatistics, Health Informatics, or Statistics
- SAS and SQL proficiency for healthcare data analysis
- Familiarity with healthcare data types (claims, EHR, pharmacy, lab) and HIPAA compliance requirements
- Experience with HEDIS, STAR ratings, or population health metrics is a plus
- Strong analytical writing and ability to summarize findings for clinical and business audiences
