Biomedical Engineer I – Children's Hospital of Philadelphia

Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is the nation's first hospital devoted exclusively to pediatric care and consistently ranked among the top children's hospitals in the country. Our Clinical Engineering department is hiring a Biomedical Engineer I passionate about supporting the unique devices used in pediatric and neonatal patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair medical equipment with special emphasis on pediatric-specific devices (neonatal ventilators, infant warmers, pediatric monitors)
  • Conduct incoming inspections and acceptance testing for newly acquired equipment
  • Document all work in CMMS and maintain accurate equipment records
  • Support Joint Commission and NFPA 99 compliance across CHOP facilities
  • Coordinate with nursing and clinical staff for urgent equipment needs
  • Participate in CHOP's pediatric research equipment support programs

Requirements

  • BS in Biomedical Engineering, Biomedical Technology, or Electronics Engineering
  • 0-2 years experience in clinical engineering (pediatric experience is a definite plus)
  • Compassionate demeanor suitable for pediatric hospital environment
  • CBET, CABT, or CLES certification preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills for working with patients, families, and clinical teams
