Biomedical Equipment Technician – Duke University Health System
Duke University Health System is a leading academic medical center in Durham, NC, integrating patient care, research, and education at the highest level. Our Clinical Engineering team is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Technician to support the maintenance and management of our extensive medical device inventory across Duke University Hospital and affiliated facilities.
Responsibilities
- Conduct preventive maintenance on medical equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety
- Perform corrective maintenance and troubleshoot equipment failures in a timely manner
- Complete all work orders in the CMMS system with accurate documentation
- Assist biomedical engineers with device evaluations, capital planning, and equipment installations
- Collaborate with clinical staff to resolve equipment-related issues efficiently
- Support regulatory compliance including NFPA 99 electrical safety testing
Requirements
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology or Electronics
- 0-2 years of experience in hospital clinical engineering or medical equipment maintenance
- Strong troubleshooting skills for electronic systems
- CBET, CLES, or CABT certification preferred or planned
- Customer service focus and ability to build strong clinical relationships
