Biomedical Engineer I – NYU Langone Health

NYU Langone Health is a world-class academic medical center providing extraordinary patient care, research, and education across New York City. Our Clinical Engineering department is seeking a Biomedical Engineer I to join our team managing and supporting biomedical equipment across our hospitals and ambulatory care network.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance, acceptance testing, and repairs on medical equipment per AAMI and manufacturer standards
  • Assist with medical device integration and HL7/FHIR connectivity projects
  • Support clinical departments with specialized equipment procurement evaluation
  • Investigate biomedical equipment incidents and contribute to patient safety reporting
  • Coordinate with vendors for warranty service, loaner equipment, and field service issues
  • Participate in new facility openings and department renovations requiring equipment planning

Requirements

  • BS in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Clinical Engineering
  • 0-2 years experience in clinical/hospital biomedical engineering setting
  • Knowledge of NFPA 99 and Joint Commission Environment of Care standards
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills for complex electronic medical systems
  • New York City environment adaptability; ability to travel between campus locations
