Biomedical Engineer I – Mayo Clinic

Our Biomedical Engineering department in Rochester, MN ensures the safety and effectiveness of thousands of medical devices across our hospital system, and we are seeking a Biomedical Engineer I to join this mission-critical team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance, safety inspections, and repairs on clinical medical equipment
  • Support clinical engineers in device acquisition evaluation and standardization processes
  • Investigate equipment malfunctions and document findings in computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
  • Respond to clinical staff requests for biomedical equipment support and training
  • Assist with incoming medical device inspections and acceptance testing
  • Participate in hospital environment of care rounds and Joint Commission readiness

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Biomedical Technology, or related field
  • 0-2 years experience in clinical engineering or hospital biomedical department
  • Knowledge of NFPA 99, AAMI TIR12, and Joint Commission standards preferred
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for electronic and electromechanical medical equipment
  • Valid driver's license; ability to work across multiple campus buildings
