Biomedical Engineer I – Mayo Clinic

Our Biomedical Engineering department in Rochester, MN ensures the safety and effectiveness of thousands of medical devices across our hospital system, and we are seeking a Biomedical Engineer I to join this mission-critical team.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance, safety inspections, and repairs on clinical medical equipment
- Support clinical engineers in device acquisition evaluation and standardization processes
- Investigate equipment malfunctions and document findings in computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
- Respond to clinical staff requests for biomedical equipment support and training
- Assist with incoming medical device inspections and acceptance testing
- Participate in hospital environment of care rounds and Joint Commission readiness
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Biomedical Technology, or related field
- 0-2 years experience in clinical engineering or hospital biomedical department
- Knowledge of NFPA 99, AAMI TIR12, and Joint Commission standards preferred
- Strong troubleshooting skills for electronic and electromechanical medical equipment
- Valid driver's license; ability to work across multiple campus buildings
