Role Context

Amex Finance Analysts support one of four business verticals: Consumer, Commercial, Global Merchant Services, or International. You will prepare monthly reports, maintain forecast models, and contribute to the quarterly earnings process. Finance teams at Amex interact directly with business heads, making communication quality as important as analytical depth.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly financial reports and executive summaries for business unit leaders
• Maintain rolling forecast models and update with latest actuals and assumptions
• Perform P&L variance analysis with written commentary for senior management
• Support quarterly earnings preparation and investor relations data requests
• Build scenario models to analyze business decisions and strategic trade-offs
• Collaborate with accounting on close-calendar deliverables and accrual estimates

Requirements & Skills

• Bachelor's in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related discipline
• Strong Excel financial modeling skills
• Familiarity with financial planning software (Hyperion, Anaplan, or similar)
• Clear analytical communication — written and verbal
• Comfortable working across functions with non-finance partners
• Internship in finance, FP&A, or corporate banking preferred
