Role Context

New Analysts at Goldman Sachs complete a structured orientation program covering firm culture, financial products, and regulatory frameworks. You will be assigned to a specific division and contribute to daily reporting, financial controls, or transaction analysis from week one. Analysts interact regularly with MDs and VPs in a meritocratic culture that rewards initiative.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce daily and weekly P&L reports for trading desks or business divisions
  • Perform account reconciliations and resolve breaks in financial records
  • Support audit and regulatory reporting with accurate documentation
  • Analyze cost and revenue data to identify financial trends and outliers
  • Collaborate with controllers and front-office teams on financial close activities
  • Develop proficiency in internal Goldman Sachs financial systems and risk tools

Requirements & Skills

  • Bachelor's in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Economics, or related field
  • Strong understanding of financial concepts including P&L, balance sheets, and cash flow
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills; SQL or Python knowledge is a plus
  • High degree of accuracy and ability to work under time pressure
  • Professional communication and the ability to explain financial data to non-finance teams
  • Finance internship or relevant coursework in financial instruments preferred
