About This Role
PeopleFirst India is hiring a Remote HR Assistant for candidates based in Chennai. You will support the HR team with recruitment coordination, employee documentation, payroll inputs, and HR administrative tasks from your home. This is a great entry-level HR opportunity for Chennai-based HR graduates who want flexible work arrangements and hands-on exposure to core HR functions without commuting to a corporate office every day.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the recruitment team with sourcing candidates, scheduling interviews, and communicating with applicants via email and phone
- Prepare and send offer letters, appointment letters, and onboarding checklists to new joiners
- Maintain and update employee records in the HRMS including personal details, attendance, and leave balances
- Collect and verify documents from new joinees for background verification and statutory compliance filing
- Assist in compiling monthly payroll inputs including attendance data, overtime, LOP, and new joiner details
- Support employee grievance tracking by logging complaints and following up on resolution timelines
- Prepare basic HR reports including headcount summaries, attrition data, and leave utilisation reports
- Handle general HR queries from employees via email and internal HR helpdesk tickets
Required Skills and Qualifications
- MBA in HR or BBA with HR specialisation; relevant HR certifications are preferred
- Basic understanding of HR processes including recruitment, onboarding, payroll inputs, and statutory compliance
- Good written and spoken English and Tamil for professional HR correspondence
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Google Sheets, and HRMS tools; experience with Zoho People or Darwinbox is a plus
- Organised, detail-oriented, and able to handle sensitive employee information with confidentiality
- 0–2 years of HR experience; freshers from reputed HR programmes will also be considered
