HR Executive Jobs in Mumbai

PeopleFirst India

full-time Onsite India

Job Description

About This Role

PeopleFirst India is hiring an HR Executive for its Mumbai HR operations team. The role covers recruitment coordination, employee onboarding, HR documentation, payroll input preparation, and day-to-day employee query management. It is a generalist HR operations role suited to MBA HR graduates or candidates with one to three years of core HR experience who want to work within a structured HR team at a mid-size company rather than a large corporate HR factory.

Role Context

You will report to the HR Manager and support a workforce of approximately 250 employees across the Mumbai office. The HR team of four handles all HR functions in-house without an outsourced HR partner. You will own the recruitment lifecycle for junior and mid-level hiring, manage the monthly payroll input cycle, handle statutory compliance documentation, and serve as the first point of contact for employee HR queries. There is enough variety in this role to develop a broad HR operations skill set quickly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end recruitment for junior and mid-level roles including JD preparation, sourcing, screening, and scheduling
  • Conduct initial HR screening interviews and coordinate with hiring managers for technical rounds
  • Manage employee onboarding including offer letter issuance, documentation collection, and induction coordination
  • Prepare monthly payroll inputs including attendance data, leave balances, and variable pay inputs for processing
  • Maintain employee records including contracts, statutory documents, and performance review files
  • Handle employee queries on leaves, policies, reimbursements, and PF and ESI processes accurately
  • Coordinate statutory compliance activities including PF, ESI, PT, and gratuity documentation
  • Support the HR Manager in performance review cycles, policy updates, and employee engagement initiatives

Requirements & Skills

  • MBA in HR or equivalent post-graduate qualification; BBA HR with strong experience is also considered
  • 1–3 years of HR generalist experience covering recruitment, onboarding, and payroll input preparation
  • Working knowledge of Indian statutory HR compliance including PF, ESI, PT, and gratuity requirements
  • Hands-on experience with HRMS platforms such as Darwinbox, Keka, or GreytHR for attendance and payroll
  • Strong MS Excel skills for payroll data compilation, employee tracker management, and reporting
  • Good written and verbal communication in English and Hindi for employee and management interactions
  • Trustworthy and discreet in handling confidential employee information at all times

Benefits & Work Conditions

  • Monthly salary of ₹22,000–₹42,000 based on HR experience and qualification level
  • PF, ESI, and full statutory benefits from the joining date
  • Exposure to full HR generalist scope — recruitment, payroll, compliance, and employee relations
  • Annual performance appraisal with merit increment and career growth to Senior HR Executive
  • Five-day work week with standard office hours at the Mumbai location

Who Should Apply

This role suits HR professionals who want to own a complete generalist scope rather than specializing in just one HR function. If you are organized, empathetic in employee interactions, comfortable with payroll data and statutory compliance requirements, and looking for a mid-size company where your HR work is visible and impactful rather than lost in a large corporate structure, PeopleFirst India's Mumbai HR team is a strong fit.

About the Company

PeopleFirst India is a Mumbai-based manufacturing and services company employing 250 people across three business units. The HR team handles all people operations in-house and operates as a true business partner to operational leadership. The company is known for transparent HR policies, timely statutory compliance, and a culture that treats the HR function as strategic support rather than administrative overhead.

How to Apply

Apply through this listing with your resume. Briefly describe the most complex recruitment or payroll process you have managed independently. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an HR skills interview within 4 working days.
