About This Role
Nomura India is hiring Graduate Quantitative Equity Analysts for its Quantitative Investment Strategies (QIS) team. Nomura QIS is a global leader in quantitative equity strategies — designing factor-based portfolios, dispersion trades, and volatility strategies for institutional investors. India-based quant analysts develop systematic stock selection models, backtesting frameworks, and factor analytics for Nomura's APAC and global equity QIS portfolios.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop quantitative stock-ranking models using fundamental factors (quality, value, momentum, low volatility) for Asian and Indian equities
- Build statistical backtesting frameworks in Python to evaluate factor alpha and Sharpe ratio of systematic equity strategies
- Conduct factor decay analysis: how quickly does each alpha signal attenuate and how does it interact with other factors?
- Analyse alternative data sources for equity alpha signals: satellite imagery, web scraping, and credit card transaction data
- Build volatility surface analytics for systematic options overlay strategies on Indian and Asian equity indices
- Write quantitative research notes on equity factor performance, crowding risk, and systematic strategy risk management
Requirements & Skills
- M.Tech/M.Sc/Ph.D. in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or Quantitative Finance (2025/2026 batch)
- Exceptional quantitative skills: time-series analysis, regression, factor models, and machine learning
- Strong Python programming: pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, and backtesting libraries (Zipline, Backtrader)
- Understanding of equity factor investing: Fama-French factors, BARRA factor models, and risk-adjusted return measurement
- CFA Level I or FRM Level I cleared is advantageous
