About This Role

Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) India is hiring fresher Corporate Banking Analysts for its Corporate Finance team. SMBC is Japan's second-largest bank. SMBC India serves top Indian corporate groups, PSUs, and Japanese companies operating in India with corporate loans, project finance, syndicated lending, ECB, trade finance, and capital markets solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct credit analysis for Indian corporate borrowers: annual report analysis, financial spreading, and risk rating
Prepare credit approval documents for corporate lending facilities: term loans, working capital, ECB, and project finance
Support Japanese MNC clients in India: account management, forex advisory, and cash management coordination
Process trade finance transactions: Letters of Credit, Bank Guarantees, and standby LCs for import/export clients
Monitor existing corporate loan portfolio: covenant compliance, utilisation tracking, and annual review preparation
Prepare RBI statutory reports: master direction ECB filings, FEMA transactions, and CRR/SLR compliance

Requirements & Skills

MBA (Finance) or CA from a recognised institution (2025/2026 batch)
Credit analysis and financial modelling skills
Understanding of corporate banking, trade finance, and RBI/FEMA regulations
Japanese language skills (JLPT N3 or above) are a very strong advantage
Good analytical and documentation skills for credit memoranda
