ESG Analyst – Corporate Governance – ISS ESG

We are hiring ESG Analysts in Rockville, MD to research corporate governance practices and ESG performance for ISS ESG's global company coverage universe.
Responsibilities
- Research and evaluate corporate governance quality at assigned companies — assessing board independence, executive pay, audit practices, and shareholder rights
- Analyze proxy statements, annual reports, and corporate governance codes to score ISS's Governance Quality Score (GQS)
- Conduct research on environmental and social ESG risk factors for assigned industry sector coverage
- Support proxy voting recommendations for ISS's institutional investor clients during annual proxy season
- Monitor corporate governance regulatory changes across US, EU, and emerging markets that affect ISS research methodology
- Engage directly with corporate investor relations and governance teams to gather and verify data
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Political Science, or Law
- Strong understanding of corporate governance principles and shareholder rights
- Excellent research and analytical writing skills for producing governance research reports
- Excel proficiency for governance data analysis and scoring
- Interest in securities law, corporate governance regulation, and responsible investment
