ESG Credit Risk Analyst – Moody's Corporation

Moody's Corporation (NYSE: MCO) is a global integrated risk assessment firm, providing credit ratings, research, and analytical tools that help investors make better financial decisions. Moody's ESG Solutions group provides ESG scores, physical climate risk data, and net-zero transition analytics used by 4,000+ financial institutions to manage climate and ESG-related credit risks. We are hiring ESG Credit Risk Analysts in New York to integrate ESG factors into Moody's credit analysis and ratings methodology.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate ESG factors into Moody's credit analysis frameworks across corporate, sovereign, and structured finance ratings
  • Assess physical climate risk (flood, heat, drought) and transition risk (carbon pricing, stranded assets) exposure for rated issuers
  • Analyze net-zero transition plans of corporate issuers in high-emitting sectors (energy, utilities, automotive) for credit relevance
  • Apply Moody's ESG issuer profile scores to credit rating commentary and investor reports
  • Monitor regulatory developments in climate risk disclosure (TCFD, SEC climate rules, EU taxonomy) and their credit implications
  • Contribute to Moody's ESG research publications and thought leadership for institutional investor audiences

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Environmental Economics, or Sustainability
  • Understanding of credit analysis fundamentals and how ESG factors affect creditworthiness
  • Familiarity with climate risk frameworks (TCFD, NGFS scenarios) and carbon accounting
  • Strong quantitative skills; Excel, Python, or R for data analysis
  • Excellent analytical writing for credit research publications
