ESG Ratings Analyst – MSCI Inc.

We are hiring ESG Ratings Analysts in New York to research, assess, and rate companies' ESG performance across industries.
Responsibilities
- Research and assess the ESG performance of assigned companies across a defined sector coverage universe using MSCI's proprietary ESG ratings methodology
- Analyze corporate sustainability reports, CDP disclosures, SEC filings, controversy news, and regulatory violations to identify ESG risks and opportunities
- Score companies on material ESG key issues (carbon emissions, labor practices, board diversity, data privacy, product safety) using MSCI's framework
- Conduct company engagement calls to gather data clarifications and update ESG ratings based on new information
- Produce written ESG rating reports published to institutional investor clients on the MSCI ESG Manager platform
- Monitor ESG news and regulatory developments in assigned sectors to maintain current and accurate ratings
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or Business
- Strong interest in ESG investing, corporate sustainability, and responsible finance
- Excellent research and analytical writing skills for ESG report production
- Proficiency in Excel; Python or data analysis tools are a plus
- Ability to manage a large company coverage universe and meet regular rating update deadlines
