ESG Investment Analyst – Vanguard

Vanguard's Investment Stewardship team is one of the most influential in the world — engaging with boards of directors at thousands of companies on governance, executive compensation, and climate risk disclosures. We are hiring ESG Investment Analysts at Vanguard's Malvern, PA headquarters to support the Investment Stewardship and ESG integration teams.
Responsibilities
- Analyze companies' ESG profiles across Vanguard's vast equity index portfolio for stewardship and engagement purposes
- Research governance issues including board composition, executive pay alignment, capital allocation, and shareholder rights
- Evaluate corporate climate risk disclosures against TCFD (Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures) framework
- Support proxy voting analysis — reviewing shareholder proposals and management recommendations across 13,000+ companies
- Prepare engagement letters, board meeting briefings, and stewardship reports for Vanguard's investment stewardship team
- Monitor ESG regulatory developments (SEC, EU) impacting Vanguard's fund disclosures and reporting obligations
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or Environmental Policy
- Strong analytical skills with ability to evaluate corporate governance, financial disclosures, and ESG metrics
- Excel proficiency; Python or SQL for ESG data analysis is a plus
- Understanding of proxy voting, corporate governance, and ESG frameworks (GRI, SASB, TCFD)
- Exceptional research and writing skills for stewardship engagement correspondence
