Data Analyst – Financial Crimes – Wells Fargo

Our Financial Crimes Analytics team in Charlotte, NC uses advanced data analytics to detect money laundering, fraud, and regulatory compliance risks across Wells Fargo's massive transaction network. We are hiring entry-level Data Analysts passionate about using data to fight financial crime.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze transaction patterns and customer behavior data to identify potential fraud, AML, and sanctions screening anomalies
  • Build risk scoring models and detection rules using SQL, SAS, and Python
  • Support SAR (Suspicious Activity Report) filing processes with data-driven case documentation
  • Generate regulatory compliance reports for BSA/AML programs including FinCEN filings
  • Evaluate model performance and tune detection thresholds to optimize false positive rates
  • Collaborate with compliance, legal, and technology teams on financial crimes investigations

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Statistics, Criminal Justice Analytics, or Computer Science
  • Strong SQL and SAS or Python skills
  • Interest in BSA/AML, fraud detection, or financial crimes investigations
  • Attention to detail and high standards for data accuracy in a regulated environment
  • CAMS certification pursuit is encouraged and will be supported
