Accounting Associate – MetLife

MetLife's New York corporate Finance team supports $67B in revenues, and we are hiring entry-level Accounting Associates to support financial reporting, investment accounting, and internal controls for MetLife's US and global insurance operations.
Responsibilities
- Support preparation of GAAP and STAT financial statements for MetLife's Life, Accident & Health, and Annuity insurance entities
- Record and reconcile investment transactions (bonds, equities, real estate, mortgage loans) in MetLife's investment accounting system
- Assist with the implementation of ASC 326 (CECL) and ASC 944 (LDTI) new accounting standard requirements
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve open reconciling items on a timely basis
- Support external audit requests from Deloitte during interim and year-end audit cycles
- Maintain SOX documentation for assigned key controls in financial reporting processes
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting (CPA eligibility preferred)
- Interest in insurance industry accounting; statutory accounting knowledge a plus
- Strong Excel skills; SAP, PeopleSoft, or AxisRe experience beneficial
- Analytical mindset with strong attention to accuracy and completeness
- Team-oriented with ability to collaborate across Finance, Actuarial, and IT teams
