Accountant – Insurance & Investment – Prudential Financial
Prudential Financial is a global financial services company with $1.5 trillion in assets under management, offering insurance, investment management, and retirement solutions to millions of customers. Prudential's Newark, NJ corporate headquarters is seeking entry-level Accountants to support financial reporting and general ledger accounting for our life insurance, annuities, and asset management businesses.
Responsibilities
- Prepare GAAP and statutory journal entries and account reconciliations for assigned Prudential entities
- Assist with life insurance accounting under LDTI (ASC 944) including reserve computations and DAC amortization
- Support consolidation and elimination entries for Prudential's holding company and insurance subsidiaries
- Prepare statutory financial statements filed with state insurance regulators in key states (NJ, NY, IL)
- Coordinate with actuarial, investment, and tax teams to gather data needed for financial reporting
- Assist with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) internal control testing and related process documentation
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (150 credit hours for NJ CPA preferred)
- CPA candidate; exam reimbursement provided
- Understanding of insurance accounting (statutory vs. GAAP) is highly desirable
- Advanced Excel; Oracle or SAP Financials experience a plus
- Strong analytical skills and ability to manage work across multiple entities and reporting cycles
