Cost Accountant – Manufacturing – Caterpillar Inc.

Our Peoria, IL global headquarters is seeking a Cost Accountant to support cost management and financial analysis for Caterpillar's complex, global manufacturing operations — from excavators and bulldozers to massive mining trucks and engines.
Responsibilities
- Maintain standard cost systems and perform bill-of-materials (BOM) analysis for manufactured parts and finished machines
- Analyze manufacturing variances (material price, labor efficiency, overhead volume and spending) and prepare monthly variance reports
- Support plant controller with month-end close, journal entries, and management reporting for assigned manufacturing facilities
- Assist with annual standard cost update including cost roll and impact analysis on inventory valuation
- Conduct physical inventory observations and cycle count reconciliations
- Prepare and review capital expenditure project accounting and depreciation schedules for plant assets
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CMA certification is highly valued alongside CPA
- Understanding of cost accounting concepts including standard costing and manufacturing variance analysis
- SAP experience (Material Ledger, CO-PC) is a significant advantage
- Strong Excel and analytical skills
- Willingness to work at or near manufacturing facilities and interact with operations teams
