Accounting Analyst – Costco Wholesale
Costco is the third-largest retailer in the world and one of America's most admired companies, with $238B in annual revenue from 870+ warehouse locations globally. Costco's Finance and Accounting department at its Issaquah, WA headquarters is seeking an Accounting Analyst to support merchandise accounting, vendor receivables, and financial close activities for one of retail's most unique and beloved business models.
Responsibilities
- Process and reconcile vendor allowance and rebate payments, ensuring accurate recording in Costco's merchandise accounting system
- Perform month-end inventory reconciliations and LIFO/FIFO valuation adjustments for Costco's merchandise categories
- Assist with accounts payable analysis and vendor statement reconciliation for Costco's large supplier base
- Prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations for assigned general ledger areas
- Support internal and external audit requests for the merchandise and vendor payable accounting areas
- Identify and resolve data discrepancies between point-of-sale systems, inventory records, and the general ledger
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business (strong academic performance required)
- CPA candidate preferred; Costco supports CPA examination costs
- Strong Excel skills; AS/400 or SAP experience is a plus
- Detail-oriented with a methodical approach to reconciliation and error resolution
