Accountant – Global Finance – McDonald's
McDonald's is the world's leading global foodservice retailer with over 40,000 locations in 100+ countries and $23B in annual revenues from company-owned and franchised restaurants. McDonald's Global Finance team in Chicago supports accounting and reporting for one of the world's most iconic brands, managing franchise fees, royalties, rent income, and food service supply chain financials. We are hiring entry-level Accountants to join our Corporate Accounting teams.
Responsibilities
- Record and reconcile franchise fee revenues, rent income, and royalty payments received from McDonald's global franchisees
- Perform month-end close journal entries and account reconciliations for assigned general ledger areas
- Assist with preparation of McDonald's consolidated financial statements and SEC filings (10-Q, 10-K)
- Support lease accounting under ASC 842 for McDonald's global real estate portfolio (company owns the land under most locations)
- Coordinate with international finance teams across Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America on consolidation activities
- Assist with internal and external audit requests and SOX documentation updates
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting (150 credit hours for IL CPA preferred)
- CPA candidate; exam support provided
- Strong GAAP knowledge including lease accounting, revenue recognition, and franchise accounting
- Excel and ERP proficiency (Oracle preferred)
- Passion for global business and genuine interest in the restaurant and franchise industry
