Financial Reporting Accountant – Allstate
Allstate is one of the largest publicly held personal lines property and casualty insurers in the US, protecting approximately 16 million households. Allstate's Northbrook, IL finance team is hiring Financial Reporting Accountants to support our SEC reporting, statutory insurance accounting, and consolidation functions for Allstate's insurance, financial, and technology companies.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and review of Allstate's quarterly (10-Q) and annual (10-K) SEC filings and related exhibits
- Prepare statutory financial statements filed with state insurance departments across all 50 states
- Perform financial statement consolidation for Allstate's subsidiaries including Esurance and Encompass brands
- Conduct monthly account reconciliations and investigate differences between general ledger and statutory records
- Support new accounting standard implementations (LDTI — ASC 944, CECL) and related system changes
- Assist external auditors with annual audit and interim review support across all Allstate entities
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting (CPA preferred or eligible)
- Strong GAAP and statutory accounting knowledge preferred
- Advanced Excel and experience with HFM (Hyperion Financial Management) or Oracle a plus
- Strong attention to detail and professional standards appropriate for external reporting
- Ability to work effectively under the tight deadlines of SEC quarterly and annual reporting cycles
