Staff Accountant – Corporate Finance – Charles Schwab
Charles Schwab is a leading provider of financial services with approximately $8.5 trillion in client assets and 34 million active brokerage accounts. Schwab's Westlake, TX campus is home to its Finance and Accounting organization, and we are hiring Staff Accountants to support monthly financial close, account reconciliation, and internal management reporting for Schwab's banking, brokerage, and advisory businesses.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and post monthly journal entries for assigned general ledger accounts (revenue accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets)
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and resolve open reconciling items on a monthly basis
- Assist with preparation of monthly management financial packages including P&L analysis and commentary
- Support annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting processes with actual vs. budget variance analysis
- Maintain SOX internal controls narratives and conduct quarterly control self-assessments
- Assist external auditors (Deloitte) with annual audit schedules and supporting documentation
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting (150 credit hours for CPA preferred)
- CPA exam intention or in progress
- Strong foundation in GAAP and financial close processes
- Advanced Excel skills; NetSuite, Oracle, or SAP experience a plus
- Self-starter with strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple close deadlines
