Accounting Analyst – Citi
Citi is a global bank serving 200 million customer accounts across 160+ countries with $74B in annual revenues. Citi's Finance organization manages one of the largest and most complex balance sheets in the global banking system. We are hiring entry-level Accounting Analysts in New York to support our Controllers and Financial Reporting groups in delivering accurate, timely financial data to regulators, investors, and internal leaders.
Responsibilities
- Process and record journal entries for assigned general ledger areas including fixed income, derivatives, and loan portfolios
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate and resolve unreconciled items
- Support Citi's quarterly and annual close cycle and financial statement preparation process
- Assist with preparation of regulatory reports filed with the Federal Reserve, OCC, and FDIC
- Contribute to SOX internal controls testing and maintain process narrative documentation
- Partner with business unit CFOs, product controllers, and technology teams on financial data quality initiatives
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA candidate strongly preferred)
- Understanding of financial instruments (bonds, derivatives, loans) and bank accounting preferred
- Proficiency in Excel and SAP or Oracle; familiarity with bank regulatory reporting a plus
- High attention to detail and strong ethical standards appropriate for a regulated financial institution
- Analytical problem-solver who thrives under deadline pressure
