Junior Accountant – Government Contracts – Lockheed Martin
Lockheed Martin is the world's largest defense contractor, delivering advanced technology systems, products, and services for government and commercial customers globally — including the F-35, Orion spacecraft, and missile defense systems. Our finance teams support $65B in annual revenue from the most complex and sensitive programs on the planet. We are hiring Junior Accountants in Bethesda, MD to support program cost accounting and compliance for classified defense contracts.
Responsibilities
- Manage cost accumulation and allocation for assigned government defense programs under Cost Accounting Standards (CAS)
- Prepare Incurred Cost Submissions (ICS) and support Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) audits
- Perform Earned Value Management (EVM) analysis tracking program cost and schedule performance
- Process month-end journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations for assigned program accounts
- Ensure compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) cost allowability requirements
- Support program managers with budget-vs-actual variance analysis and financial forecasting
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
- US citizenship required (position requires or may require a DoD Secret clearance)
- Knowledge of government contract accounting (FAR, DFARS, CAS) is a strong plus
- CPA candidate encouraged; exam support provided
- Strong Excel and ERP skills (SAP preferred)
