Accountant – Cost & Financial Reporting – Boeing
Boeing is the world's largest aerospace company and the leading manufacturer of commercial jetliners, defense systems, and space vehicles. Boeing's Finance organization supports $66B in annual revenue across Commercial Airplanes, Defense, and Global Services. We are hiring entry-level Accountants at our Chicago headquarters to support government contract accounting, cost reporting, and financial statement preparation under complex aerospace industry accounting standards.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze cost data for long-term aerospace and defense contracts under percentage-of-completion (ASC 606) accounting
- Perform month-end close journal entries, account reconciliations, and program cost allocations
- Assist with government contract cost incurred submissions and DCAA (Defense Contract Audit Agency) audit support
- Support preparation of Boeing's quarterly SEC filings (10-Q, 10-K) and investor earnings packages
- Maintain compliance with Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) for government contracts
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and automate recurring manual tasks
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting (CPA preferred or eligible to sit)
- US citizenship required for government contracts work (Boeing is a defense contractor)
- Strong knowledge of GAAP; familiarity with government contract accounting (FAR/CAS) is a plus
- Advanced Excel skills; SAP or Oracle ERP experience preferred
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to meet close deadlines
