Junior Accountant – Financial Reporting – Chevron
Chevron is one of the world's leading integrated energy companies, with businesses involved in every aspect of the energy industry — from oil & gas exploration to refining, marketing, and renewable energy. Our San Ramon, CA headquarters is hiring Junior Accountants for our Finance Leadership Development Program, rotating through controllership, financial reporting, and business unit finance assignments over two years.
Responsibilities
- Prepare consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules for SEC reporting (10-Q, 10-K, 8-K filings)
- Perform month-end and quarter-end close activities including journal entries, reconciliations, and intercompany eliminations
- Support financial statement footnote disclosures and coordinate with external auditors
- Assist with analysis of drilling, production, and refining cost variances vs. budget and prior year
- Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls documentation
- Participate in Chevron's Finance Leadership Development Program rotational assignments across business units
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting with strong academic performance (3.2+ GPA preferred)
- CPA candidate strongly preferred (exam support provided)
- Familiarity with SEC reporting requirements and US GAAP for energy companies
- Strong Excel and financial modeling skills; SAP or Oracle experience a plus
- Adaptable, curious mindset suited to a rotational development program
