Staff Accountant – ExxonMobil
ExxonMobil is one of the world's largest publicly traded energy companies with revenues of $400B+ and operations in 60+ countries. Our Houston accounting and finance center is hiring Staff Accountants to manage general ledger activities, financial close processes, and reporting for our upstream exploration, downstream refining, and chemical manufacturing businesses.
Responsibilities
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual general ledger close activities including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
- Prepare financial statements and management reports in compliance with US GAAP and SEC regulations
- Analyze variances between actual results and budget/forecast and document explanations for management review
- Support internal and external audit activities by providing requested schedules and explanations
- Maintain internal controls documentation and ensure SOX 404 compliance across assigned processes
- Use SAP ERP for journal entry processing, account reconciliations, and financial reporting
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred or in progress)
- Strong knowledge of GAAP; experience with SAP is a plus
- Highly detail-oriented with excellent accuracy and quality standards
- Strong Excel skills including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and financial modeling
- Ability to meet tight financial close deadlines in a fast-paced corporate environment
