Online French Tutor Part Time Remote Jobs Canada

RemoteFirst Canada

Part-time Remote Canada

Job Description

RemoteFirst Canada's tutoring platform connects students across Canada with qualified language tutors for French immersion, FSL (French as a Second Language), conversational French, and academic French support from elementary through university level. With demand for French language skills growing nationally, we are expanding our roster of online French Tutors to serve both anglophone Canadians learning French and francophone students needing academic support in their mother tongue.

This role is ideal for bilingual professionals, French-language teachers, university students in French or linguistics programs, or anyone with native or near-native French fluency who enjoys teaching. Sessions are conducted one-on-one via our secure video platform. You set your own availability, accept sessions that match your schedule, and are paid per completed session.

What Students Need Help With:

Your sessions will cover a wide range of needs — a Grade 7 student preparing for a French immersion test, an adult professional wanting conversational confidence, a university student working through French literature assignments, or a new immigrant seeking to improve their French for the Quebec job market. Each student's brief will be clear before you accept the session.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct one-on-one French tutoring sessions via video call using our platform's built-in whiteboard and document sharing tools
  • Assess each student's current level, learning goals, and specific curriculum requirements at the start of the engagement
  • Prepare tailored lesson content, grammar exercises, and conversation practice activities for each student's level
  • Correct pronunciation, written work, and grammar in a constructive and encouraging manner
  • Track student progress session by session and adjust your approach based on what is and is not working
  • Write brief post-session notes for parents or guardians outlining what was covered and what to practice
  • Recommend additional resources such as apps, podcasts, or reading materials to support learning between sessions
  • Maintain a high session rating by delivering engaging, results-oriented lessons consistently

Requirements:

  • Native or near-native French fluency — both written and spoken
  • Strong understanding of French grammar at an academic level
  • Previous tutoring, teaching, or mentoring experience is preferred
  • Patient, encouraging teaching style that adapts to different learning speeds and styles
  • Reliable internet, webcam, and a quiet background for video sessions
  • Police background check required before first session with a minor student

Compensation & Flexibility:

  • $22–$38/hr depending on the level taught and session demand
  • University and advanced academic sessions pay at the higher end of the rate range
  • Set your own weekly availability and accept only the sessions you want
  • Direct deposit payments every two weeks
  • Growing platform with a strong pipeline of French language learners
  • Bilingual support team available in both official languages

If vous parlez français couramment and you love helping others unlock the beauty of the language, we would love to have you on our team. Apply in English or French.
