RemoteFirst Canada operates an accredited online tutoring platform that connects Canadian students from Grade 1 through university with qualified tutors across a wide range of subjects. Our tutors work entirely from home, setting their own weekly availability and accepting sessions that match their expertise. We are currently seeking part-time Online Tutors in mathematics, sciences, English, French, history, and test preparation to meet growing demand from students across every province.

This role is an excellent fit for current university students, retired teachers, or professionals who have deep subject knowledge and a genuine desire to help younger learners succeed. Sessions are conducted one-on-one via our secure video platform, and our matching algorithm ensures you are paired with students whose level and goals align with your strengths.

What Sessions Look Like:

Each session is 60 or 90 minutes. You review the student's most recent work or test results beforehand, identify the specific gaps, and build the session around targeted explanation, guided practice, and reinforcing questions. After each session you write a brief progress note visible to the student and their parent or guardian.

Responsibilities:

Conduct scheduled one-on-one tutoring sessions with assigned students via video call
Assess each student's level and learning gaps at the beginning of the engagement
Create or adapt lesson materials tailored to the student's curriculum and learning style
Set measurable session goals and track student progress over time
Write brief post-session notes summarizing what was covered and homework assigned
Communicate proactively with parents or guardians regarding student development
Reschedule sessions with at least 24 hours notice and minimize cancellations
Participate in quarterly platform training updates to align with curriculum changes

Requirements:

Strong academic background in your subject area — a degree or equivalent certification is required for university-level tutoring
Proven ability to explain complex concepts clearly to learners of different ages and abilities
Patient, encouraging teaching style that builds student confidence
Reliable internet connection, webcam, and a quiet environment for video sessions
Police background check required before first session
Teaching certification, tutoring experience, or enrolment in an education-related degree is preferred
