Architectural Designer – New Grad – SmithGroup

We are hiring New Grad Architectural Designers at SmithGroup's Detroit headquarters.
Responsibilities
- Develop architectural design from programming through design development on SmithGroup projects across healthcare, laboratory, education, and workplace typologies
- Produce Revit architectural models and construction document packages with strong attention to technical accuracy and coordination
- Create compelling design visualizations using Rhino, SketchUp, and rendering software to communicate design intent at all project phases
- Conduct programming and pre-design research — space needs assessments, benchmarking studies, and design strategy development
- Apply integrated sustainable design strategies — LEED certification workflows, energy modeling coordination, and biophilic design principles
- Coordinate across SmithGroup's in-house MEP and structural engineering teams to develop fully integrated building designs
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's of Architecture from an NAAB-accredited program
- Revit and AutoCAD proficiency
- Interest in sustainable design, laboratory architecture, or integrated AE practice
- Strong collaborative instincts for SmithGroup's integrated architecture+engineering culture
- LEED GA credential is a plus; SmithGroup supports LEED AP accreditation
