Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical components for Tesla vehicles (Model S, 3, X, Y, Cybertruck) and energy products
- Create 3D CAD models and engineering drawings using NX or CATIA; manage GD&T for manufacturing
- Perform engineering analysis including FEA, tolerance stack-up, and thermal analysis
- Work in cross-functional teams with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain for design-to-production transitions
- Support prototype builds, testing, and root cause analysis at Tesla's Fremont Gigafactory
- Respond rapidly to production issues — Tesla moves fast and expects engineers to do the same
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET-accredited program)
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, NX, or CATIA)
- Understanding of manufacturing processes (stamping, casting, injection molding, machining)
- Strong analytical skills with coursework in stress analysis, thermodynamics, and materials
- Self-driven, high-ownership mentality — Tesla expects engineers to own their problems end-to-end
