Virtual Tutoring Specialist – Connections Academy
Connections Academy is a leading provider of high-quality, tuition-free, accredited K-12 virtual school education serving over 100,000 students across the United States. Our Virtual Tutoring Specialists provide targeted academic support to students enrolled in our online school, functioning as dedicated home tutors available through live virtual sessions, ensuring no student falls behind in this innovative fully-online schooling model.
Responsibilities
- Deliver live 1-on-1 and small group tutoring sessions to K-12 virtual school students struggling with core subjects
- Align tutoring content directly with Connections Academy's accredited online curriculum
- Coordinate with classroom teachers to understand each student's gaps and support the teacher's instructional goals
- Track student tutoring session data and report outcomes through the school's Learning Management System (LMS)
- Communicate with Learning Coaches (parents/guardians supervising at-home learning) about student progress
- Attend virtual team meetings, professional development, and curriculum review sessions
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a specific academic subject area
- Experience with virtual instruction, online tutoring, or educational technology platforms
- Strong communication skills for working with students, parents, and teachers in a virtual environment
- State teaching certification preferred; candidates working toward certification encouraged to apply
- Self-directed, organized, and comfortable working in a fully remote team environment
