Our essay review and writing tutoring service helps thousands of college students improve their written work every week. We are seeking skilled Online Writing Tutors to provide asynchronous essay feedback and live writing sessions.
Responsibilities
- Review college student essays, research papers, and written assignments and provide detailed, constructive written feedback
- Evaluate thesis clarity, argument structure, evidence use, and grammar/mechanics
- Deliver feedback within the required turnaround time (typically 24 hours) via the Smarthinking platform
- Conduct live online writing sessions for students seeking real-time guidance on drafts
- Use Smarthinking's commenting tools, rubric templates, and feedback frameworks consistently
- Participate in calibration sessions and quality reviews to maintain feedback consistency
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in English, Writing, Communications, Journalism, or related field
- Excellent command of academic writing conventions (MLA, APA, Chicago formats)
- Ability to provide clear, specific, and actionable feedback on student writing
- Strong time management — must meet submission deadlines reliably
- Typing speed of 50+ WPM preferred for efficient session management
