About This Role

Northrop Grumman is hiring an Electronic Hardware Engineer to develop electronics for stealth aircraft, space vehicles, satellite systems, and cyber platforms. Role Context

Northrop Grumman's Aeronautics and Space divisions design electronics for platforms where hardware must function in the vacuum of space, at hypersonic speeds, or in contested electronic environments. Circuit card assemblies (CCAs) go through rigorous environmental stress screening and MIL-SPEC qualification. Teams are organized by platform, and hardware engineers stay with a program through its full lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop circuit card assemblies for avionics, space, or ground defense systems
  • Produce schematics, BOMs, and layout guidance documents using Cadence or Mentor tools
  • Conduct hardware qualification per MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, and applicable space standards
  • Perform failure analysis on hardware anomalies and document corrective actions
  • Collaborate with firmware and systems engineers during hardware–software integration
  • Participate in design reviews (PDR/CDR) with program and customer representatives

Requirements & Skills

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
  • Hardware design or verification experience at board level
  • Familiarity with high-reliability component screening and derating practices
  • Understanding of FPGA-based designs or DSP hardware is a plus
  • US Top Secret clearance eligibility required (US citizenship)
  • Methodical approach to engineering documentation and traceability
