Role Context

LinkedIn data scientists join product teams — Feed, Jobs, Talent Solutions, Learning, or Sales Navigator — and own analytics and experimentation for their surface. As a Microsoft subsidiary, LinkedIn also collaborates with Microsoft Research and Azure AI teams on applied research projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze professional network data to measure engagement, job seeking, and content consumption
• Build and evaluate ranking and recommendation models for jobs and content feeds
• Design experiments to measure algorithmic and product changes on member behavior
• Develop SQL and Python pipelines on Hadoop/Spark-based infrastructure
• Create dashboards tracking member growth, retention, and monetization KPIs
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers on measurement strategy

Requirements & Skills

• Bachelor's or Master's in Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or a quantitative field
• Strong SQL proficiency — comfortable with window functions and complex aggregations
• Python skills for statistical analysis and light ML modeling
• Solid grounding in experimental design and causal inference methods
• Genuine interest in professional networking, talent markets, or social graph dynamics
• Experience with Spark or distributed query engines is a plus
