Data Science Engineer I

Snowflake

Full-time Remote United States

Job Description

About This Role

Snowflake is hiring a Data Science Engineer I to work on internal analytics, customer usage modeling, and product intelligence. You will use Snowflake's own platform as your primary tool while building the models and pipelines that help the company understand its customers and grow its AI Data Cloud business.

Job Overview

  • Job Title: Data Science Engineer I
  • Company: Snowflake
  • Location: San Mateo, CA / Seattle, WA / Boston, MA / Denver, CO / Atlanta, GA (Remote eligible)
  • Job Type: Full-time
  • Experience Level: Entry-level (0–2 years)
  • Salary Range: $44–$62/hr
  • Posted Date: 2026-06-04
  • Application Deadline: 2026-07-04

Role Context

This role sits at the intersection of data engineering and data science. You will write Snowflake SQL and Python (via Snowpark) to build feature tables, train models, and serve predictions — all within the Snowflake ecosystem. You will collaborate with product, sales engineering, and customer success to generate insights that shape Snowflake's GTM strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain ML feature pipelines using Snowpark for Python and Snowflake SQL
  • Develop models for lead scoring, usage forecasting, and customer health monitoring
  • Create data marts and analytical layers consumed by BI dashboards and sales tools
  • Implement model monitoring and drift detection for production pipelines
  • Collaborate with data engineers to improve pipeline reliability and performance
  • Document modeling decisions and data definitions in the internal data catalog

Requirements & Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or Engineering
  • Strong SQL — experience writing complex analytical queries at scale
  • Python skills for data manipulation and ML model training
  • Familiarity with cloud data warehouses or data lakehouse concepts
  • Understanding of supervised ML workflows — feature engineering, model selection, evaluation
  • Snowflake, dbt, or similar modern data stack experience is a plus

Benefits & Work Conditions

  • $44–$62/hr with Snowflake equity and performance bonus
  • Fully remote-eligible with optional office access in multiple cities
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance with low employee cost share
  • Home office stipend and internet reimbursement for remote employees
  • Generous PTO, parental leave, and 401(k) with company match

Who Should Apply

Graduates who want to work in the modern data stack and build expertise in cloud-native ML pipelines. This role is ideal if you enjoy the engineering side of data science — writing clean, performant code that others depend on — as much as the modeling side.

About the Company

Snowflake is the AI Data Cloud company, providing a cloud data platform used by thousands of organizations to store, analyze, and share data across clouds. It is publicly traded and has one of the largest data ecosystems in the cloud industry, with strong partnerships across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
